Focus First 2009
The Focus First uses a high-modulus lightweight carbon fibre frame coupled with a pair of Manitou Minute Super forks with 120mm of travel to give the ultimate XC ride.
Using Focus's FIRST (Full Integrated Rear Suspension Technology) system allows the rear shock to be located in the top tube creating a sleek looking full suspension mtb. The Focus First also uses high modulus carbon fibre to create a frame which is lightweight and stiff. The frame features a pair of Manitou Minute Super forks giving a large 120mm of travel resulting in a smooth and exhilarating ride whatever the conditions underneath you and the bike. This pure racing machine also features Shimano Deore XT components coupled with the Hayes Stroker Ryde hydraulic brakes. The rear shock, Manitou's Radium RL Air 165mm/38mm, neatly sits on the top tube thanks to the F.I.R.S.T. system giving unparalleled ride comfort and instant access to adjustment and lockout controls. Truvativ also provides the gearing in the shape of their Stylo 3.3 triple chainset and coupled with a rear cassette ratio of 11-34T, will get you up the steepest of climbs without dismounting the bike. FSA provides the bars/stem and seatpost with Concept supplying the comfort in the shape of their Xtreme saddle. The wheels are a combination of Alex EN24 rims, Shimano M525 hubs finished off with Continental Mountain King tyres. This is truly a racing machine that can handle any terrain you place within its path.

Technical facts:
- Carbon (high modulus fiber) monocoque front triangle w/ aluminum rearstays incl. Horst link
- Focus Integrated Rear Suspension Technology (F-I-R-S-T)
- Integrated Cable Routing
- Remote Lockout-ready (integrated cable routing prepared)
- 110 mm rear wheel travel, 38 mm shock travel
- Average ratio 2.7 : 1, max. 3 : 1 (Sligthly degressive, hold off by shock setup).
- Pedal kickback:
- gear ratio 22/28 > relatively high crank angle delta (3.59), controlled by shock platform
- gear ratio 32/17 > small crank angle delta (-0.76)
- gear ratio 44/11 > relatively small crank angle delta (0.56)
- Oversized downtube to bottombracket connection for additional main pivot stiffness
- Forged chainstay yoke w/ hollow connection beam and seatstay clamps
- Forged linkage, monobody for additional bearing housing stiffness
- Sealed Bearing Pivots: oversized INA needle bearings on oversized, hardened and polished hollow steel axles, taking up radial bearing forces much better than ball bearings; lightweight IGUS sliding polymer bearings running on replacable stainless steel thrust washers for axial forces, axial play adjustable; all bearing parts manufactured in Germany
- All threads on frameparts made as replacable parts
